On November 30, 2022, ChatGPT was launched. ChatGPT is a prototype artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI, an AI research laboratory also responsible for language model GPT-3 and image generator DALL-E. ChatGPT specialises in dialogue, which means that everyone can chat with this AI system; and that we can interview it!

ChatGPT is freely available online through chat.openai.com. The user interface makes it seem like an ordinary chatting system. The only difference is that on the other side… there’s a computer. Instead of me explaining to you what the abilities of ChatGPT are exactly, and how researchers were able to create it, let’s ask ChatGPT itself:

It responds with the wrong number: 1897 multiplied by 396 is equal to 749,892.
